Thoracic Self-traction using Chair
I do have a few patients with thoracic dysfunction: FRSL's, ERSLs, ERSRs, and FRSRs.....
The Mulligan Concept thoracic self-traction using two chairs were very effective to treat them at home after I do Muscle Energy technique for correcting these dysfunctions. See www.glseminars.com for a complete list of Manual Techniques to correct thoracic dysfunctions
The patient stands between two chairs and holds them tries to press down on the two chairs while keeping the elbows straight. Make sure the patient's feet are directly beneath him or else you will cause "kinking" or extension motion on the lumbar spine (if the legs are behind the patient, which is a pretty much common error)
Hold the position for at least 20 seconds.... 3-5 reps
